SRU’s Jackson named to national organization’s top post

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Dallas Jackson, assistant professor of physical and health education at Slippery Rock University, will assume the presidency of The National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities at the organization's national conference July 27-29 in Arlington, Virginia.

NCPEID's mission is to promote research, professional preparation, service delivery and advocacy of physical education for individuals with disabilities. Membership is open to all persons who are or have been involved in professional preparation, demonstration, or research activity related to physical education and recreation for individuals with disabilities. University faculty in adapted physical education as well as public school and residential facility personnel are encouraged to become members.

As president of the organization, Jackson, who has been elected to a four-year term, will serve as chair of the NCPEID board of directors, assist with membership recruitment and contribute to the facilitation of all operational aspects.

"NCPEID has had a major influence on my professional development from the very beginning, and it is a real honor to be able to serve the organization at this level," said Jackson.

"I am really excited to focus my service and leaderships efforts with NCPEID because of the organization's rich historical, current and future influence on shaping the direction of adapted physical education."
