SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has been named one of the nation's best online schools for its master's degree in special education: autism by Online Schools Center, a leading resource for students "looking for the latest, most useful information available to make the most informative decisions on their education and future."

One of only 15 graduate programs to be named to the list, SRU was lauded for its "positively glowing reviews from past and current distance education students" and for its online coursework, described by OSC as "challenging, yet flexible and easy to use."

Also credited for its variety of program options, the University's degree program was recognized for providing students with:

-Developing integrated language and literacy programs for students with disabilities.

-Communication and social competency for students with ASD.

-Instructional strategies for learning and behavioral problems.

According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "there has been a massive increase in the amount of individuals with autism over the last 10 years. That means that now more than ever, it is crucial that more educated, compassionate professionals earn a graduate degree in autism spectrum disorder."
