SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. ¬- It's the kind of "mad" excitement that makes the arts thrilling¬ - 60 dance pieces performed live, each lasting 60 seconds and accompanied by original videos produced by art majors.

Slippery Rock University will present the multimedia concert "60X60 2015" at 7 and 9 p.m., Sept. 24, in the West Gym Dance Studio.

60X60 refers to the 60 pieces lasting 60 seconds being presented in 60 minutes. The hour-long program will showcase modern and jazz choreography and original video created by dance and art majors.

Andy Hasenpflug, dance musician for SRU's dance department, is producing the show. He said there is a trend toward rapid-fire performance, with shows "shorter and shorter and more spectacular as time goes by."

Robert Voisey, a New York City-based composer and producer of chamber music, came up with the 60X60 concept in 2003 as a means for promoting contemporary composers.

The suggested donation is $2 at the door.
