SRU’s GGE department sponsors mindful living event

 George Hoguet of the Zen meditation group Laughing Rivers Sangha, will speak about mindful living at 5 p.m., Sept. 30, in Slippery Rock University’s 111 Spotts World Culture Building. There is no charge.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - George Hoguet, a member of the Laughing Rivers Sangha Zen meditation group, will speak about "Mindful Living for a Future to be Possible" at 5 p.m., Sept. 30, in Slippery Rock University's Room 111 Spotts World Culture Building. SRU's department of geography, geology and the environment is sponsoring his appearance.

The Pittsburgh-based Hoguet, ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh into the Order of Interbeing, advocates for mindful living and climate awareness. He helped create the Earth Holder Sangha, which focuses on awakening, togetherness for transformation and healing.

Laughing Rivers Sangha practices mindfulness as taught by Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. The community has been in existence in Pittsburgh since 1991.
