Slippery Rock University students, staff, faculty and Slippery Rock and Harrisville community members came together with local and state dignitaries to officially dedicate the Harrisville Building, home of the SRU physician assistant program, Sept. 23. The PA program blends on-site and online education, with classes offered at the former Har-Mer School in Harrisville. The facility houses 13 state-of-the-art labs and equipment that simulates real-time patient care, including an interactive mannequin that produces mock vital signs. Four exam rooms include cameras for professors to monitor student progress. The 24-month program readies students to examine patients, diagnose injuries and illnesses and provide treatment under the supervision of a doctor or surgeon.
