Students from Heather Hertel's upper-level painting 206, 306 and 406 stacked classes are working on a two-part process for creating color field abstractions, which are acrylic wash paintings on large canvases. After creating the washes - including designs and patterns - students then remove the paintings from the wall and craft them into three-dimensional shapes.
