SRU earns 55 College Factual badges of distinction

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has earned 55 badges of distinction including 33 "best value" designations ranging from "Best for the Money" in Pennsylvania to "Best for the Money with No Aid" Nationwide from College Factual, a data-driven college choice resource, in ratings released in USA Today.

College Factual awards badges to those universities that finish in the top five percent, 10 percent and 15 percent of each of the categories being evaluated.

SRU was in the top five percent in the overall categories of:

• "Best for the Money" in Pennsylvania, and

• "Best for the Money with No Aid" Nationwide

The University also had nine fields of study and majors recognized in the top five percent. These were:

• "Best for the Money" - Parks, Recreation, Leisure and Fitness Studies;

• "Best for the Money" - Health Professions;

• "Best for the Money" - Education;

• "Best for the Money" - Special Education;

• "Best for the Money" - Public Health;

• "Best for the Money" - History;

• "Most Popular" - Special Education;

• "Most Popular" - Teacher Education and Development, Specific Levels and Methods; and

• "Most Focused" - Teacher Education and Development, Specific Levels and Methods

The University earned 18 badges for ranking in the top 10 percent including seven in the college overall category. These included:

• "Best for the Money" - Nationwide;

• "Best for the Money" - Middle Atlantic;

• "Best for the Money with Average Aid" - Nationwide;

• "Best for the Money with Average Aid" - Middle Atlantic;

• "Best for the Money with Average Aid" - Pennsylvania;

• "Best for the Money with No Aid" - Middle Atlantic;

• "Best for the Money with No Aid" - Pennsylvania.

Eleven field of study and majors were recognized in the top 10 percent including:

• "Best for the Money" - History;

• "Best for the Money" - Computer Information Systems major;

• "Best for the Money" - English Language and Literature, general major;

• "Best for the Money" - Health and Physical Education/Fitness major;

• "Best for the Money" - Social Work major;

• "Most Popular" - Parks, Recreation, Leisure and Fitness Studies;

• "Most Popular" - History;

• "Most Focused" - Education;

• "Most Popular" - Interdisciplinary Studies major;

• "Most Popular" - History major; and

• "Most Focused" - Teacher Education and Development, Specific Levels and Methods major.

The University earned 26 badges for ranking in the top 15 percent of all programs. General and fields of study earning badges were:

• "Best for the Money" - Education;

• "Best for the Money" - English Language and Literature;

• "Best for the Money" - Mathematics and Statistics;

• "Best for the Money" - Physical Science;

• "Best for the Money" - Public Administration and Social Service;

• "Best for the Money" - Social Sciences;

• "Most Vet Friendly" - Nationwide;

• Men's Basketball - Sports Specific;

• Men's Football - Sports Specific;

• "Most Popular" - Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies;

• "Most Popular" - Health Professions; and

• "Most Focused" - Parks, Recreation, Leisure and Fitness

Majors finishing in the top 15 percent included:

• "Best for the Money" - Communication and Media Studies;

• "Best for the Money" - Biology General;

• "Best for the Money" - Mathematics;

• "Best for the Money" - Chemistry;

• "Best for the Money" - Geological and Earth Sciences;

• "Best for the Money" - General Psychology;

• "Best for the Money" - Fine and Studio Arts;

• "Most Popular" - Quality Control Technology;

• "Most Popular" - Recreation Administration;

• "Most Popular" - Health and Physical Education/Fitness;

• "Most Popular" - Dance;

• "Most Popular" - Health Sciences and Services;

• "Most Popular" - Business Administration and Management; and

• "Most Focused" - Quality Control Technology.
