SRU’s Oct. 20 Healthfest offers 75 stations
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Office of Campus Recreation will host its 30th annual Healthfest from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Oct. 20, in the Aebersold Student Recreation Center. The theme is "Eat Clean and Stay Lean in 2015."
Healthfest, free and open to the public, will offer 75 information booths, screenings, exhibits and displays, manned by SRU students and health professionals.
Screenings will be offered on nutrition analysis, depression, eating habits, body fat and many other subjects.
An "In the Pink" breast cancer awareness walk will begin at 12:30 p.m.
"The main mission of the annual Healthfest is to promote awareness about as many health related issues as possible," said Brian Mortimer, SRU coordinator of wellness and the Russell Wright Fitness Center. "We are giving the University community information to promote positive behaviors. The wellness dimensions include physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual, environmental and occupational."
SRU's Student Health Center will offer free flu vaccines to SRU students with ID.
The "In the Pink" walk will begin in the front of the ARC. T-shirts will be sold with proceeds benefiting the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
