Residence hall students schedule Nov. 17 blood drive

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's National Residence Hall Honorary is teaming with the Central Blood Bank to stage a blood drive Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Robert M. Smith Student Center Ballroom.
All those who donate blood will be in the running for a raffle prize. The residence hall with the highest number of donors and volunteers will win a pizza party.
Donors may pre-register and schedule their donation online at http://www.centralbloodbank.org, but appointments are not required.
Donations take about 15 minutes and donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health.
Males wishing to donate double red cells must be at least 17 years old, a minimum of 5 feet 1 inch tall and weigh at least 130 pounds. Female double red cell donors must also be at least 17 years old, a minimum of 5 feet 5 inches tall and weigh at least 150 pounds.
Donors who donate double red cells must wait at least 112 days before donating again. Whole blood donors must wait 56 days between donations.
