SRU elementary and special education programs ranked among the best nationally

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Score four wins for Slippery Rock University's College of Education. Its elementary education program has been ranked among the Top 20 Elementary Education Schools nationally and among the Top 10 Elementary Education Schools in Pennsylvania, and the college was named as The Top Special Education School in Pennsylvania and among the Top 25 Special Education Schools nationally by Best-Education-Schools.com.

The Top 20 Elementary Education Schools award came as a result of the program earning an overall ranking of five stars including five stars for curriculum and 4.5 stars for teaching. In awarding the special education ranking, the organization noted, "there are 52 schools offering special education programs in Pennsylvania, and the best one is offered by Slippery Rock University. The college offers an excellent special education program and was awarded five stars for curriculum and four stars for teaching."

Best-Education-Schools.com 2015 rankings are based on the U.S. Department of Education data sets released in 2014-15. The organizations algorithm is based on proprietary, unique formulas that involve 61 academic, financial and organizational factors and metrics as well as faculty profiles, student retention rates and alumni job prospects. The scores are then normalized so that consideration is given to other characteristics of the school such as student enrollment, past ranking history of the specific college and its current trends.
