SRU student musicians to offer holiday swing dance

Nov. 20, 2015

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University Brass Ensemble will offer a fundraising holiday swing dance from 4-8 p.m., Dec. 6, in the Smith Student Center Ballroom. Students organized the event to raise funds to support music student recruitment, take music to local schools and demonstrate the importance of continuing music after high school.

The event will feature a live dance band playing classic swing music and holiday favorites, a silent auction, free appetizers, bake sale, games, crafts, an ugly Christmas sweater contest and catering by La Famiglia Restaurant.

All of the brass players in the band are part of the SRU Brass Ensemble. Saxophones and the rhythm section players are also involved in other groups.

French horn musician Christina Eisenreich, a music therapy major from the North Hills, and trumpeter Craig Gill, a music performance major from Moon Township, organized the program.

Admission is $5 for SRU students, children and seniors, and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by contacting Eisenreich at
