SRU Trustees meetings slated for Dec. 3-4

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Dec. 3-4. Dec. 3 meeting are in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center and the Dec. 4 meetings are in Room 321. The meetings are open to all students, faculty, staff and community members who would like to attend.

Agenda items for Dec. 3 include reports from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee and the University Advancement Committee.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will present a quartet of programs for approval by the Council and subsequent advancement to the State System's board of governors. Those programs include a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, a Master of Science in Health Informatics, a Master of Science in Athletic Training and a Master of Music Therapy.

The Finance Committee will present a review of financial statements and an audit overview including a list of affiliated entities' certification of compliance; a review of current contracts, fixed assets and service and supply purchase orders; in addition to a quarterly financial report; a review of the facilities and planning project list; and review of personnel appointments which includes instructional, tactical leadership, operational leadership, grant-funded, non-faculty and support staff.

The day will conclude with a presentation from the SRU Foundation in regard to residence suites bond refinancing and development updates.

Dec. 4, the Governance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. hear a presentation regarding governance roles and responsibilities. The Councils quarterly business meeting is at 1:30 p.m. In addition to acting on items forwarded by the committees, Council will view a presentation on MSA training videos developed by SRU students Brandon Lombardo of New Castle and Jacob Miller of Cranberry Township, present certificates of commendation to SRU's football and men's soccer teams, both of which captured Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships in 2015, and bestow a Commendation of Service to Wilma Cavill, an SRU professor of safety management who joined the University in 1958 and is retiring in January 2016.
