Nine SRU students compete at Ethics Bowl competition
Two teams of Slippery Rock University students competed at the 18th Annual Central States Regional Ethics Bowl Competition at Marian University in Indianapolis.
The teams included: Rena Alfonso, a senior from Beaver Falls; Spencer Knafelc, a senior from Rochester; Ryan Mitcheltree, a senior from New Castle; Kristofer Davis, a junior from Moon Township; Margaret Calvert, a sophomore from Butler; Tianna Wikert, a junior from Saxonburg; Connor Griffith, a sophomore from Cranberry Township; Anthony Tomasi, a junior from New Brighton; and Kylee Hess, a senior from Everett. The teams were coached by Tom Sparrow, assistant professor of philosophy, and Andrew Winters, instructor of philosophy.
Students were evaluated on their understanding of real world cases; evaluation of relevant ethical principles; effective resolution to the case; and response to challenges from opposing teams.
