North Hills Magazine quotes SRU’s Snyder

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - John Snyder, associate director of the Slippery Rock University Office of Career Education and Development, provided an expert voice for a North Hills Monthly Magazine article about skills college graduates should present when job searching.

Snyder said the ability to work in a team structure, solve problems and communicate well is chief among the qualities employers seek. He said involvement with a club offers students a chance to provide evidence of acquiring team-building skills.

"It's more than just a bullet point on a resume," Snyder said about club participation. "Students should be able to explain what they learned from that experience and how the skill applies to the job they are seeking."

Snyder joined SRU in 1988. As a member of the team in the Office of Career Education and Development, Snyder works with students and alumni on a variety of career-related issues from choosing a major to seeking part-time and full-time employment to developing and expanding a professional network.
