Cummings earns theatre scene design award

Emma Cummings, a Slippery Rock University theatre major from Goshen, New York, has received a Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival award for her scenic design work on SRU productions of "Dark North" and "Hungry Jane."

A national program organized in 1969 to celebrate college theater in the U.S., KCACTF helps students develop their creative and technical skills by providing student designers and technicians opportunities to showcase their work at regional festivals, where they receive feedback from industry professionals.

To further KCACTF's mission, the program hosts eight regional festivals for students offering workshops, discussions, scholarships and award programs. Awards are presented for designs and other allied crafts appraised based on quality, effectiveness, originality and visual presentation techniques.
