Lisco awarded DOC grant for park ranger training

John Lisco, Slippery Rock University associate professor of parks and recreation, has received a $44,725 award from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to provide law enforcement training to park rangers.

The grant will provide for a three-week session that will focus on intensive topics and issues that are critical components of local, state and national park law enforcement training programs. Approximately 20 state forest and park managers from across the state will attend, participating in role-play scenarios, physical tactics, group activities and lectures.

Sample topics will include: criminal law, criminal and civil liability, search and seizure, patrol procedures, motor vehicle accident investigation, controlled substances, investigation, and authority and jurisdiction.
