Relay for Life generates $40,000 for ACS
April 25, 2016
Slippery Rock University students led a Disney-themed Relay for Life fundraiser April 9 at the Morrow Field House, raising $40,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The annual event not only raises money for cancer research, but also celebrates cancer survivors and honors those who have passed away.
Many students dressed in Disney costumes, such as "Ana" from "Frozen," while all cancer survivors at the event walked the first lap together to celebrate their victory over cancer. A luminary ceremony, during which candles were lit inside of personalized bags placed around the track, was done as a tribute to those affected by the disease.
