SRU accounting majors earn first-place

A team of four Slippery Rock University accounting majors earned first-place at the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditor's 2017 Presentation Contest.

Hannah King, a senior from Waynesboro; Kristen Smith, a junior from Karns City; Jillian Summerill, a senior from Slippery Rock; and Kassandra Thomas, a senior from Volant, presented a case on mock interviews with an audit client, using WorldCom as a basis for their presentation. Melanie Anderson, SRU professor of Business, advised the group.

The team presented materials on appropriate interview techniques and illustrated their recommendations with two mock interviews scenarios. The presentation was made to 12 IIA members who served as judges, representing companies including Schneider Downs, BDO, The Meadows Casino, PNC Bank and Dollar Bank.
