Ward wins grant to provide fresh vegetables to area youth
David Ward, a Slippery Rock University senior social work major from New Castle, has been awarded a $400 grant from the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Project.
Ward plans to use the grant to fund "mega fresh" boxes for area youth through the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership, where he serves as an intern. The boxes will contain fresh grown vegetables from the LCCAP aeroponic garden, recipes and nutrition cards.
The LCCAP serves low-income people in Lawrence County by addressing their multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, develops partnerships with other community organizations, involves low-income clients in agency operations, and administers a full range of coordinated programs designed to have a measurable impact on poverty.
