SRU sophomore receives grant for oral history project

Anna Swartwout, a Slippery Rock University English major from Renfrew, received a $750 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience grant for her oral history project, "The Queens of Slippery Rock."

Swartwout, who will work alongside Mark O'Connor, associate professor of English, will research and interview previous SRU homecoming queens with the results of her work being published in an upcoming issue of SLAB, the University's literary magazine that publishes established and emerging writers from throughout the U.S.

Her work will also serve as source material for conference presentations and creative nonfiction essays.
