SRU graduate earns LCCC Faculty Excellence Award

Mary Jo DiGiandomenico, a 1981 Slippery Rock University physical education graduate, has been named the 2015 Lorain County [Ohio] Community College Faculty Excellence Award recipient.

LCCC presents the award annually to two faculty members who demonstrate improved teaching through innovative practices, commitment to professional development, improvement of the educational environment for students and response to the changing educational needs of the community.

DiGiandomenico, a professor in LCCC's Division of Allied Health and Nursing/Health, Physical Education and Recreation, teaches "Biomechanics of Resistance Training," "Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Behavior Change," "Resistance Training for Women" "CPR" and the online "Women's Health" and "Community Health" courses. She is also a wellness coach and personal trainer.

DiGiandomenico began her LCCC career in 1991 and earned her first master of education degree at Cleveland State University and her second masters in health education and health promotion and her doctorate degree at Kent State University.
