SRU graduate named Lynn University director of athletics

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Devin Crosby, who graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in communication, was recently named director of athletics at Lynn University.

"Devin comes to us with a passion for college athletics and a fundamental appreciation for the spirit, service and strength that drives our exceptional student-athletes," said Lynn University President Kevin Ross. "He will be an engaging leader for Lynn's program, which has a winning track record not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom."

At Lynn, which is located in Boca Raton, Florida, Crosby will be in charge of an athletic department that fields 14 NCAA Division II teams.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to help Lynn develop lasting relationships with the community," said Crosby. "Lynn University is a dynamic, innovative and special place and I look forward to being a part of its mission to help students succeed."

A native of Sewickley, Crosby attended SRU from 1994-97 and was a standout both in the classroom and as a member of The Rock's track & field program. Crosby was a member of Slippery Rock's 1994 outdoor Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship team and later guided SRU's outdoor 4x400-meter relay team to back-to-back conference titles during the 1995-96 seasons.

After earning his bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock, Crosby earned a master's degree in sport management from East Stroudsburg University before beginning his climb through the college athletic administration ranks.

Crosby credited his time at SRU for helping prepare him for a career in higher education.

"The Slippery Rock administration and leadership was dynamic," he said. "The faculty challenged me to the pursuit of excellence in the classroom and the student affairs staff helped develop my business acumen. My coaches taught me the skill of physical and mental discipline for success"
