Smith, Reilly join Rock volleyball staff
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Former Slippery Rock university volleyball standouts Kaylee Smith and Janna Reilly have joined the SRU coaching staff for the 2015 season. Smith will serve as an assistant coach, while Reilly will be the graduate assistant.
"I am very pleased to add Kaylee and Janna to the staff," said Laurie Lokash, SRU volleyball coach. "They were both four-year starters and had outstanding careers on the court. That experience will translate well to helping coach our team."
Smith, a native of Muncie, Indiana, returns to SRU after spending the 2014 season as an assistant coach at West Virginia Wesleyan, where she helped the Bobcats to post a 9-7 record in Mountain East Conference matches.
A 2011 graduate of SRU with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Smith was a four-year starter for The Rock from 2008-11.
Reilly, who graduated in May of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, was the primary setter for SRU for most of the last four seasons.She appeared in 128 matches and 464 sets during her four-year career and posted 2,979 career assists, which ranks fourth all-time in program history.
A native of Mason, Ohio, Reilly was a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
The SRU volleyball team will open the 2015 schedule with two matches each day Sept. 4-5 at the Pfeiffer University Tournament in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
