Dance majors perform at Philadelphia-based festival


Ten Slippery Rock University dance majors performed at the Come Together Dance Festival, Aug. 20, at the Susan Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. SRU was among 41 dance companies chosen from more than 100 applicants to perform at the four-day festival.

The SRU dancers performed a piece titled "FIRM," which explores music visualization and hints of the demands of the workplace.

Dance majors taking part in the performance included:

-Djenne Boutrin, a senior from Ephrata

-Kylie Criswell, a senior from East Petersburg

-Katie Kulasa, a junior from Belle Vernon

-Maddison Manolis, a senior from New Castle

-Malena Maust, a senior from Butler

-Melitta Parzyszek, a junior from Dillsburg

-Chelsey Shaner, a senior from Knox

-Nechelle Trawick, a sophomore from Philadelphia

-Alison Vitale, a senior from New Castle

-Cameron Waters, a freshman from New Castle

SRU alumni Tara Madsen Robbins, '04, and Ryan McMullen, '15, choreographed the piece. The project manager and artistic director was Ursula Payne, professor of dance.
