SRU therapeutic recreation student makes news
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Sarah Davis, a Slippery Rock University therapeutic recreation major from Leechburg, was featured in the Times Leader of Wilkes-Barre about her "Victory Garden" work with the elderly at the Community Living Center in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Plains Township.
The garden, which veterans help tend as a therapeutic activity, includes eggplants, sunflowers, basil and purple-waxed beans.
Davis, an intern at the VA, said the garden offers benefits for veterans and their helpers. Veterans get to watch things grow and blossom and work together.
