D’Asia Chambers signs professional basketball contract

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - D'Asia Chambers, a 2015 Slippery Rock University professional studies graduate, has signed a contract to play professionally in Germany for the TUS Bad Aibling Fireballs of the Damen Basketball Bundesliga league.

Chambers starred at SRU after transferring from St. Bonaventure University.

One of the top players in program history, Chambers left Slippery Rock ranked fifth in school history in total rebounds (723), fifth in blocks (59), seventh in field goals made (520), ninth in points (1,313), 10th in steals (125) and 14th in three-pointers made (67).

She appeared in 96 games in her Rock career, averaging 13.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field. She is one of just 12 players in SRU history to have scored at least 1,000 career points.

As a senior in 2014-15, Chambers earned first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors and was named the PSAC-West Defensive Player of the Year after registering per game averages of 16.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals. She guided SRU to a berth in the 2015 PSAC Tournament.

Jeanne McNulty-King, Chambers' agent, thinks the college swingman's game will transition well to the next level. Chambers is currently the only SRU women's basketball alumna playing professional basketball.
