Shipe earns Humanitarian Award

Nancy Shipe, Slippery Rock University associate professor of physical therapy, has received the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Humanitarian Award for her community service, including distribution of clothes to the homeless in Pittsburgh.
Her nomination included 11 letters of support from SRU colleagues and students.
Shipe is involved with more than 10 service projects, including working with SRU physical therapy students to collect shoes, socks, boots and first aid supplies for distribution to the homeless before the winter season. She also volunteers as a baby holder at The Children's Home and Lemieux Family Center's Pediatric Specialty Hospital.
Shipe will be honored at the PPTA's Oct. 29 conference in Lancaster.
