Hutchins receives ATRA Distinguished Fellowship Award

Deborah Hutchins, Slippery Rock University assistant professor of recreational therapy, has been awarded the American Therapeutic Recreation Association Distinguished Fellowship Award.

The honor is the highest award of recognition given by ATRA. The award recognizes exceptional accomplishments within the field of recreational therapy.

In addition to her 20 years of service at SRU, Hutchins has served as an associate editor for ATRA's "Annual in Therapeutic Recreation" publication; as a member of the Board of Directors of the Committee on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education; and as a board member and president of both the Western Pennsylvania ATRA Chapter and the Pennsylvania Therapeutic Recreation Society. Her impact with ATRA has included committee work; service as a member of the ATRA Board of Directors; and a stint as ATRA President.
