Schiappa presents continental core research in Italy

Oct. 27, 2016

Tamra Schiappa, Slippery Rock University associate professor of geography, geology and the environment, presented her research on the North American continental craton (aka Laurentia) during an earth sciences conference at the University of Pavia in Lombardy, Italy.

Schiappa's presentation, entitled "From Rodinia to Pangaea: Paleozoic Paleogeography and Techtonic Setting of Laurentia," examined the land mass events that shaped Laurentia, which scientists believe was originally a separate continent that migrated from the South Pole region to form the ancient geological core of the North American continent.
