Smith earns distinguished principal award

Steven Smith, a 1994 Slippery Rock University graduate with a degree in special education, was named Pennsylvania's 2017 Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals in Washington, D.C.

The Eden Hall Upper Elementary School principal was recognized for his commitment to increasing student achievement and creating an environment in which students thrive.

Smith, who has been with the Pine-Richland School District since 2013, was formerly an assistant principal and teacher at Haine Middle School in the Seneca Valley School District; a principal and instructional leader in a Pre-K-8 building in the Diocese of Greensburg; and a teacher at Montclair Elementary School in Prince William County Public Schools in Dumfries, Virginia.
