SRU student contingent attends Stoicism conference

Nine Slippery Rock University students, accompanied by Andrew Winters, instructor of philosophy, attended the Stoicon 2017: Modern Stoicism Conference in Toronto, Ontario.

The conference offered a series of talks by leading authors in the field of modern Stoicism; introductory workshops for newcomers; and a keynote presentation on "Stoicism and Emotion" by Margaret Graver, professor of classical studies at Dartmouth College.

SRU students attending included:

-Margaret Calvert, a sophomore philosophy major from Butler.

-Gennifer Farrell, a senior philosophy major from Carlisle.

-Connor Griffith, a junior history major from Cranberry Township.

-Tristan Hyde, a senior mathematics-philosophy major from Guys Mills.

-Cassidy Leasure, a sophomore sociology major from Butler.

-Hannah Ptacin, a junior philosophy major from Selinsgrove.

-Parker Servello, a senior mathematics-biology major from Monroeville.

-Tianna Wikert, a senior exercise science major from Saxonburg.

-Jessica Wolf, a junior criminology and criminal justice major from Adamstown, Maryland.
