Johnson provides expertise on women scientists

Patsy Ann Johnson, a retired Slippery Rock University professor of secondary education, provided an expert voice for a Real article about women in science throughout history.

Johnson noted that written records exist showing Egyptian female physicians in 2700 BC were respected in their field and allowed to specialize in the field of their choice. Women scientists were treated as equals in classical Greece, as well.

The article also pointed out that women scientists, while important contributors to science for 5,000 years, are still not seen as equals in the laboratory today.
