Cooke elected chairperson for therapeutic recreation council

Colleen Cooke, a Slippery Rock University professor of recreational therapy, has been elected chairperson of the board of directors of the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Her term will begin spring 2017.

The National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is the premier credentialing organization for the profession of therapeutic recreation. NCTRC is a non-profit, international organization dedicated to professional excellence for the protection of consumers through the certification of recreational therapists.

The recreational therapy curriculum at SRU provides students with all requirements necessary in preparation for the NCTRC certification exam. Students who successfully complete the program are, upon graduation, immediately eligible to take the examination.
