Student business team places third in BoH competition

A team of Slippery Rock University students placed third at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering's Business of Humanity contest, earning a cash prize of $2,000.
The Business of Humanity Project is a collaboration between Pitt, SRU, Edinboro University, Robert Morris University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania to inspire undergraduate and graduate students to think creatively about ways businesses can support humanity on a global scale.
The SRU team's business model, "SmartSnacks," involves a mail-order subscription service for alternative healthy snacks, offered at a discount compared to traditional retailers and with a 10-percent donation to an organization dedicated to ending child hunger.
The "SmartSnacks" SRU team included:
-Michelle Slavik, a senior dance major from Downingtown.
-Ryan Ferguson, a senior marketing major from Apollo.
-Alexandra Fischer, a senior management major from New Castle.
-Cassidy Negri, a senior dance major from Zelienople.
-Nicholas Yochum, a senior management major from Cranberry Township.
