Leight earns NFF honors for representing student-athletes

Nov. 29, 2017

Joanne Leight, a Slippery Rock University professor of physical and health education, has been named a 2017 Faculty Athletic Representative Honoree by the National Football Foundation.

As one of 13 faculty athletic representatives to be selected for the award, Leight will be honored for the significant contributions she plays in the overall educational experience of SRU student-athletes. She will receive a $5,000 donation to support academic support services at SRU.

The NFF, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, selected one faculty athletic representative from each of the 13 universities with a 2017 National Scholar Athlete. SRU's Marcus Martin, a senior safety management major from West Mifflin, was named a National Scholar Athlete earlier this year for his combined athletic, academic and leadership abilities.
