Exercise science majors win fitness challenge
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University exercise science majors Maria Darling of Freedom, New York, Caleb Kiess of Williamsport, Ryan Matisko of Springdale and Katie Platt of Mercer recently won the Fitness Challenge Competition at The American College of Sports Medicine Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter conference.
SRU beat teams from eight institutions. The challenge consisted of a series of stations testing strength, endurance, balance and cardio respiratory health.
Jonathan Anning, SRU associate professor of exercise and rehabilitation, accompanied the students to the Harrisburg conference.
The American College of Sports Medicine, founded in 1954, supports sports medicine and exercise science education.
