Freeman named artistic director for children’s theatre

Dec. 7, 2016

Jackie Freeman, a 2010 Slippery Rock University graduate with a double major in psychology and theatre: acting, has been named artistic director for the Orphan Girls Children's Theatre in Butte, Montana.

In her role, Freeman is in charge of community outreach and programs for young artists and children with special needs.

Following graduation, Freeman, an Ohio native, spent time with six different New Orleans-based theatre companies, including Crescent City Lights Youth Theatre, and played Annelle in the 25th Anniversary production of "Steel Magnolias" at the Tennessee Williams Festival. A move to New York City saw her work for Mainstages, a Jewish-based children's theatre company where she directed an afterschool program at Locust Valley Intermediate School.
