‘REQUIEM FOR MISTER ROGERS’
CD’s ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT SRU
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. – “In Memoriam: A Requiem for Mister
Rogers” CD’s are now available for purchase in Swope
Music Hall at Slippery Rock University. Cost is $10 per
two-CD set. Call 724-738-2063.
SRU’s
orchestra and concert choir performed the one-hour, two-CD world
premiere during spring semester as a tribute to the late Fred
Rogers of PBS’s Mister Rogers’
Neighborhood.
The
choir-orchestra composition, based on a traditional Latin requiem,
includes singing, poetry, Hebrew, a cappella and string music. It
also incorporates dramatic readings and ethnic drumming. Luke
Mayernik, music director at St. Justin Church in Mount Washington,
composed the music. The first performance was held at St. Justin,
attracting several hundred admirers of the late Fred
Rogers.
