The 3+3 Pre-Pharmacy Program at
Slippery Rock University
Slippery Rock University
has an affiliation agreement with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic
Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy that guarantees five positions
per year to Slippery Rock students. The 3+3 Pre-Pharmacy opion
offered through the Department of Chemistry and Physics prepares a
student for one of these five possible positions. A student who
articulates through the 3+3 program will recieve a BS degree in
Chemistry from SRU upon successful completion of their first year
of pharmacy school.
A student applying to SRU
must be accepted into the 3+3 Pre-Pharmacy option at the start of
their freshman year. The requirements are:
Minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
3.2 out of 4.0 High School GPA
Rank within the top 25% of high school graduating
class
2 letters of recommendation
Evidence of scholarly activities and desire to
become a pharmacist
The student who meets the
following criteria while at SRU will be eligible for one of the
five reserved positions at LECOM
- Complete the Pre-Pharmacy
curriculum of the 3+3 Accelerated Pharmacy Program
- Earn a minimum GPA of 3.2
at SRU with no grade lower than a "C". (Students cannot
re-take a class to improve a grade)
- Earn a GPA of 3.2 or
higher for science and mathematics courses
- Submit 2 letters of
recommendation, one being from the student's academic advisor. The
letters must address the personal growth of the student during
their time at SRU, as well as the student's maturity,
responsibility, and desire to become a pharmacist
- Submit a completed
application to the LECOM School of Pharmacy
Note that LECOM retains the final authority in
determining a student's eligibility

Year Four
The fourth year of this program takes place at Lake Erie College
of Osteopathic Medicine's (LECOM) School of Pharmacy. Twenty-seven
LECOM credits will be transferred to Slippery Rock University to
complete graduation requirements, consisting of the courses listed
