Information Technology: Dean Lindey

Phone project
§ Everyone
will have a new phone by November 13th
§ Call
routing is being implemented.
§ Whole
project should be complete by Thanksgiving – end of
November.

Work Order Prioritization
§ 1
st: problems that affect classes and classrooms such as
computer lab problems.
§ 2
nd: People whose systems and computers are completely
down.
§ 3
rd: People who have working machines with minor
problems
§ The
most serious and important problems come first
§ Backlogged
over 200 work orders right now, hope to catch up by
Thanksgiving.

Report from Collegis – Russ Dively

Blackboard
§ Some
faculty trying to transfer course materials from the old system to
the new.
§ If
students or faculty need to work with the old system, talk to Russ
and he can help to get a quick fix until everything gets
permanently transferred over.
§ One
possible fix if Blackboard is not working properly is to take out
all bookmarks for the Blackboard page. Can only have a bookmark for
the login page. http://blackboard.sru.edu
§ There
are workshops for Blackboard, such as Grade book and Multimedia
workshops.

Need people to sign-up for these workshops
2.
Faculty needs to keep a lookout for these sign-up options.
3.
Next Blackboard Grade book workshop is next Tuesday, Oct.
26th, and Thursday, Oct. 28th at 12:30pm.
§ Excel
and other program workshops available as well through the Human
Resources Department.

Program
A.
Dance Technology - Jennifer Keller
-
Jennifer and student dancers discussed how technology informs the
creative process. Sections of dances were shown, along with
the sensing devices set up by the students on stage.
§ They
used video projection to project text on their bodies

Demonstrated by Jennifer
§ They
used laser sensing devices to trigger various media and sound and
pictures to accompany the dance
1.
Drinking and driving dance performed by students.
§ Difficulties
in using these technologies
1.
Battery problems
2.
The bouncing of the floor sometimes moves the sensors out of
place
3.
Takes a lot of time to set-up and tear down
4.
The angle of the projector and space for the performance is
different for every venue.

of Dance is sponsoring a Faculty and Guest Artist Concert
