ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TO HOST MEMORIAL DAY EVENT AT
NOON
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – To mark Veterans Day
2004 at Slippery Rock University, the SRU Alumni Association will
host a flag raising ceremony at the Veterans Memorial dedicated
last year outside Russell Wright Alumni House.
This
year’s noon ceremony on Thursday [Nov. 11] will include a
flag raising by the SRU Army ROTC Honor Guard and a laying of a
wreath at the memorial by Zane Meixner, SRU class of 49, Brent
Johnson, class of 1973, and Richard Manning, class of
1975.
The invocation will be delivered by Duane Conway, class
of 1956, and the keynote address will be presented by Lt. Col.
William L. Bialozor, head of SRU’s Army ROTC program. Remarks
will also be offered by Dr. Robert Watson, vice president for
student affairs, Michael Saraka, SRU director of alumni affairs,
and Tom Perry, a member of the class of 2002, who will introduce
the SRU Veteran’s Alumni Chapter.
The circular-brick, three-flag pole memorial was
presented to the university at last year’s ceremony as a gift
from the alumni classes of 1951, 1952 and 1953.
Refreshments
will follow in the alumni house.
