‘THOSE FUZZY THINGS CALLED
‘RACES’’ TOPIC OF LECTURE AT
SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Alondra Oubre,
a medical anthropologist and author of “Instinct and
Revelation,” will lecture on “The Fuzzy Things Called
‘Races’” at 4 p.m. April 6 in Spotts World
Cultures Building Auditorium as part of her visit to Slippery Rock
University.
Trained
in biological anthropology, cultural anthropology and social
psychology, Oubre lectures on race relations, cross cultural
cognition and the origins of human consciousness.
Her
lectures deal with such provocative topics as race, genes,
intelligences and behavior, and she brings a perspective based not
only on the hard sciences of biology, but also on the social and
behavior sciences, the humanities and even spiritual
insights.
The
free program is made available by a grant from the Pennsylvania
State System of Higher Education Office of Diversity and Equal
Opportunity, the SRU Women’s Studies Program, SRU
Women’s Consortium, and the SRU President’s Commission
on Race and Ethnicity.
