Annie Mouse Meets Her Guardian Angel
Written by Anne M. Slanina, Ph.D.
and Illustrated by Lisa Akers
Today, parenting is becoming
more difficult and parenting skills are even more crucial than
ever. Despite their best intentions to discipline the child,
parents often do not understand the psychological implications of
their words. Annie Mouse Meets Her Guardian Angel, the new
children?s book from Anne M. Slanina, Ph.D. an associate professor
of early childhood education at Slippery Rock University of
Pennsylvania, addresses parental communication issues and
introduces children to their guardian angels.
Annie Mouse is a story for
all children who have ever felt that their mothers hated them when
they were yelling. Annie Mouse is a shy, quiet mouse with
many brothers and sisters. Mommy Mouse yells and screams at
them as she works hard to keep house. Annie believes her
mother hates her until she has a visit from her Guardian Angel, who
helps her understand that her mother is having a hard time coping
with all of her duties as a mother of a large family. Annie
begins to ask her Guardian Angel for help when her mother
yells. She also begins to help her mother with the chores
instead of running and hiding when her mother yells.
