Two quick reminders:
#1 -- Homecoming ‘05
Slippery Rock University’s homecoming
festivities, under the theme “Fantastic Voyage – Rock
Around the World,” are in full swing this week with the
highlights set for Friday and Saturday (Oct. 13-14) offering a
plethora of feature story and photo possibilities. (Details were
sent in a previous news release.)
The annual
pep rally will get under way at 6 p.m. Friday on Old Thompson
Field, including the football team, coaches and other athletes,
students, cheerleaders and the SRU Marching Pride. Fireworks will
follow, and precede a 9 p.m. concert by The Clarks (a Pittsburgh
band) and Lil Scrappy (a rap artist) in the University
Union.
Saturday opens with
an 8 a.m. “Former Student Leaders Breakfast” in the
Russell Wright Alumni House followed by the traditional homecoming
parade (Giant Eagle Plaza, through downtown to Morrow Way) at 10
a.m. The SRU vs. Millersville University football game is at 2 p.m.
in N. Kerr Thompson Stadium and other sports competitions are
scheduled throughout the day. The SRU Alumni Association and
various academic departments will host pre-game tailgating
activities near the stadium.
#2 -- ‘Appreciation Luncheon’ --
Tuesday (Oct. 18)
Faculty and staff will join President Robert
Smith at Tuesday’s “Appreciation Luncheon” set
for noon to 1:45 p.m. in the University Union to celebrate the
universitywide efforts put forth in meeting the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education performance goals that earned SRU $2.7
million in performance funding – the fourth highest of the 14
state system universities. President Smith will offer a brief
address at 12:45 p.m. (A previous news release from the
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education detailed the
performance funding plan.)
