The Protection Connection
"Abstinence is Best, Protection is Next"

One out of four teens in the United States becomes infected with a Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI) each year. By the age of 25, half of all sexually active young adults with get an STI (American Social Health Organization 2005).  It is important that students receive accurate information about STI's as well as how to protect themselves from contracting an infection.  Want more statistics about STI's, check out the American Social Health Association to get more.

The purpose of the Protection Connection, located in the Health Center, is to provide safer sex supplies to students at a very low cost.  Also, as part of the HOPE Peer Education program, we are able to provide students with accurate information regarding the transmission and prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections.

A large variety of condoms can be purchased at the Protection Connection, including Trojan, Durex, Lifestyles, and Trustex brands. Most condoms are 4 / $1.00.  The Protection Connection also has lubricant, latex squares, and female condoms available for purchase.

If you are interested in seeing how a condom is made, check out Lifestyles: How a Condom is made to learn more.

A condom vending machine is available for student use.  We now have an AIM name,SRUPeers, to let you know if a student is in the office.
