INDIVIDUAL TICKETS FOR SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY’S

PERFORMING ARTS SERIES EVENTS GO ON SALE WEDNESDAY

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Individual tickets for the three remaining shows in SRU’s Performing Arts Series – Rockapella, the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops and the Duquesne University Tamburitzans – go on sale Wednesday [Sept. 20], as do tickets for a spring adaptation of “Seussical.”

All shows will be held in SRU’s Miller Auditorium. Tickets are available at SRU’s University Public Relations Office, 724-738-2091. Subscriptions for the remaining shows are still available as well.

“We’re thrilled to present these performances, because they offer something for all audiences, including children,” Deborah Baker, SRU special events coordinator, said.

“Rockapella Holiday” is set for 7:30 p.m.  Dec. 2 in Miller Auditorium. The five-man vocal group is expected to perform the holiday classics “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas and “Silver Bells,” as well as a few songs of their own.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for those 17 and under or 62 and older, and $8 for SRU students. A 2005 appearance by Rockapella at SRU sold out. Rockapella sings all of its songs a cappella, blending soul, rock, rhythm-and blues and jazz.  Since 1992, the group has released 15 albums and toured throughout the U.S. and Japan. The group was the band for PBS's  “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”

The Pittsburgh Symphony Pops appears at  8 p.m. Feb. 7 at Miller Auditorium. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for those 17 and under or 62 and older and $8 for SRU students.

The Tamburitzans, which performs the dances, music and songs of Eastern Europe, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March. 30. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for those 17 and under or 62 and older and $8 for SRU students.

“Seussical,” adapted from the Broadway show, is set for 3 p.m. May 20. All tickets are $10. Subscriptions to the remaining three programs in the series are being offered at package prices: adults, $52; those 17 and under or 62 and older, $46, and SRU students, $21. Attendees pay a $3 handling charge per order.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Tamburitzans are partially supported by a grant from Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, a program developed and funded by the Heinz Endowments; the William Penn Foundation; the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts; and The Pew Charitable Trusts. The Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation administers the program.
