LSPC Assessment Plan
L. Smith informed
the committee that the LSPC Assessment Plan had been added to the
agenda of the September 28 APSCUF membership meeting and the
October 3 UCC meeting, and asked for committee attendance at those
meetings to support the LSPC assessment plan.
It was decided
that a copy of the LSPC Assessment Plan, as well as a copy of the
cover letter that was sent to department chairs, should be emailed
to all faculty for their review before the APSCUF and UCC
meetings.
S. Sykora
informed the committee that problems with the Non-U.S. Global
Community student outcomes had been brought to her attention.
Specifically, she noted that the Non-U.S. outcomes did not
adequately address the “communication” university
outcome, or courses taught within Modern Languages. It was decided
to give faculty members additional time (until October 9) to
comment on the plan. Following the faculty review period the LSPC
will make final changes to the Assessment document and then bring
the document to the UCC again for approval on October 24. The
document will then be sent to a faculty vote on November 1 and
2.

Liberal Studies Rules and
Procedures Update
Assessment:
The LSPC’s Rules and Procedures were updated to reflect
changes made in the Liberal Studies Program Assessment Plan.
Specifically, the Committee decided that a new section addressing
the Assessment Plan will be added before the Liberal Studies course
descriptions. Several language changes were made to the
proposed Assessment section. It was also decided that any
description of the Assessment plan within the Rules and Procedures
should stay relatively general so that any future changes in the
Assessment Plan would not require redrafting the Rules and
Procedures.
Electronic
Submission of Courses: The proposed paragraph addressing the
electronic submission of courses to the LSPC was approved with only
minor language changes being made.
Enrichment
Courses: It was agreed not to change current requirements for
how often Enrichment courses must be offered. Enrichment courses
must be offered every two years, with exceptions approved by the
LSPC.
Membership:
Several changes were made to Section IV, Membership, of the Rules
and Procedures document, including the addition of a committee
representative from both the Challenges of the Modern Age and Basic
Requirements goal areas.
Motion called to adjourn meeting.
First: J. Snow
Second: D. Wells
All approved, motion passed.
Adjourned, 3:25 p.m.
