SRU INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO SPOTLIGHT HOME
COUNTRIES NOV. 5-11
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– Slippery Rock University’s Office of International
Initiatives and the SRU Internations Club will present
"Internations Week" Nov. 5-11, including the always popular
“International Dinner,” featuring foods from around the
world as well as a chance to hear about various nations of the
world.
Tickets
for the 32nd annual dinner, set for 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in the
University Union, are now on sale in the International Initiatives
Office, 114 Carruth Rizza Hall. Tickets are $10 for SRU students;
$20 for the general public; and $6 for children under age 12. The
event, a perennial sellout, offers culinary and entertainment
delights shared by SRU’s international students and
representative of their home countries.
Each year,
the university spotlights its international program by hosting
activities depicting various cultures of the world. This
year’s Internations Week offers the following
events:
* Nov. 5 -- International Sports Night, 7 p.m.,
Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center. International
students show off games and sports from around the
world.
* Nov. 6 -- International Fashion Show, 8 p.m.,
University Union. International students display national costumes
and perform dances or music of their home country.
* Nov. 7 -- International Showcase, 12:30 p.m.,
University Union. A display of arts, artifacts from various nations
represented at SRU.
* Nov. 8 -- International Coffee House, 2 to 4
p.m., North Hall Fireside Lounge. Coffees and teas from various
countries are offered along with indigenous snacks.
* Nov. 9 -- International Roundtable, 12:30,
University Union: An interactive presentation/discussion hosted
by international students, offering a glimpse of
life in other nations. Lunch will be provided.
* Nov. 11 – International Dinner, 7 p.m.,
University Union. Call 724-738-2057 for tickets.
