SRU’S VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE
FINALIST IN PITTSBURGH BUSINESSTIMES
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF YEAR AWARDS
PROGRAM
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– Dr. Charles Curry, Slippery Rock University’s vice
president for finance and administrative affairs since 1989, has
been named a finalist in the Pittsburgh BusinessTimes annual Chief
Financial Officer of the Year Awards Program.
The awards will be
presented Nov. 6 at the Marriott City Center in Pittsburgh starting
with a 5 p.m. networking session followed by the 6 p.m. awards
ceremony.
Curry
was praised for his CFO work by SRU President Robert Smith, who
pointed out, “Dr. Curry has demonstrated exceptional
leadership in managing a complex system and budget. Working as a
public fiduciary, he has extra responsibilities in building and
maintaining the public trust. We are delighted he has been named as
a finalist and believe he would be a deserving
recipient.”
Under
Curry’s leadership some of the university’s largest
construction projects in SRU’s history have been undertaken
and completed. He is responsible for the areas of accounting
services, budget, facilities services, human resources, contracts,
purchasing, and environmental health and safety. He strives to
provide the highest quality services and sustain financial
viability in support of SRU's overall mission.
He earned his
doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh, his masters of business
administration at Syracuse University and his undergraduate
bachelor of science from LeMoyne College.
