SRU’S VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE FINALIST IN PITTSBURGH BUSINESSTIMES

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF YEAR AWARDS PROGRAM

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Charles Curry, Slippery Rock University’s vice president for finance and administrative affairs since 1989, has been named a finalist in the Pittsburgh BusinessTimes annual Chief Financial Officer of the Year Awards Program.

The awards will be presented Nov. 6 at the Marriott City Center in Pittsburgh starting with a 5 p.m. networking session followed by the 6 p.m. awards ceremony.

Curry was praised for his CFO work by SRU President Robert Smith, who pointed out, “Dr. Curry has demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing a complex system and budget. Working as a public fiduciary, he has extra responsibilities in building and maintaining the public trust. We are delighted he has been named as a finalist and believe he would be a deserving recipient.”

Under Curry’s leadership some of the university’s largest construction projects in SRU’s history have been undertaken and completed. He is responsible for the areas of accounting services, budget, facilities services, human resources, contracts, purchasing, and environmental health and safety. He strives to provide the highest quality services and sustain financial viability in support of SRU's overall mission.

He earned his doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh, his masters of business administration at Syracuse University and his undergraduate bachelor of science from LeMoyne College.
