SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT HARVEST FEST

AT SLIPPERY ROCK AREA MARKET GARDEN OCT. 28

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Harvest Fest, a new event for the regional community, will be held at the Slippery Rock Area Farmers’ Market in downtown Slippery Rock from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 to celebrate October’s biggest fruit -- the pumpkin.

The event is being sponsored by Slippery Rock University’s Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems and Research. The market, which offers locally grown produce throughout summer, is located in Slippery Rock’s downtown park.

The free festival will include food, fun and activities for the children. There will be face painting, pumpkin decorating, mystery boxes and more. The story reading of “Pumpkin Pumpkin” written by Jeanne  Titherington and read by Becky Vigolilotti of Slippery Rock, will be at 10:30 a.m. and the reading of “Big Pumpkin,” written by Erica Silverman and read by Stephanie Anderson of New Kensington, will be at 11:30 a.m. Both Vigolilotti and Anderson are elementary education majors at SRU.

Refreshments, including pumpkin pie and cider, will be served compliments of the Macoskey Center throughout the event.

     For more information call 724-738-4050.
